My Property is Your Property -- Or Not...

In Massapequa Park you can be fined if you don't mow your lawn in a timely manner.  According to CBS,
"If your lawns aren't mowed, if dumpsters are full, gutters are broken, shopping carts are unattended" there could be fines of "$250-$1,000 fine for the first offense, $2,500 plus up to 10 days in jail for the second and $10,000 and 15 jail days for the third."

Wow!  Where do they draw the line?  My neighbor has a pretty nice lawn but there is this one rogue weed that grows completely out of control and I hate it.  I want to pull it out in the dead of night.  I dream of ways to kill it or make it disappear and believe me, I can be pretty creative.  If we lived in Massapequa Park I could theoretically report her and have her penalized.  What happens if your neighbor hates the way you parade your muffin top in those skinny jeans while listening to pretentious music at full volume and dancing around your kitchen?  Could he or she report your lawn maliciously and take county time and money to make them come and check your house out?  How many times can someone report you out of spite before they wear out the county welcome?

Heck, I used to have a neighbor who made comments to me about how many times a week we brought food home, could she have reported me to the nutrition police?  Let's just wait-- that may be coming next.  First it was cigarettes in the restaurant, then in cars, then in homes, then garage doors, large sodas, and now lawns; its only a matter of time before they come for you about something. I wonder if they are coming for my garden gnomes?!  We all know that there is always someone who pushes the limits and abuses the system.  It will be interesting to watch this and see what happens.
