I rarely get time to myself. I am often alone during the day but as I have a certain work ethic, I can't spend any of that time doing things that give me pleasure, I spend it doing things that need to be done. Tonight though, my husband was invited to accompany my daughter and her boyfriend to the movies. I was ecstatic. I had a couple of hours to spend in any way I wanted.
But what did I do, you ask? I announced it on Facebook and asked for ideas. I then spent time answering the posts which defeated the whole idea. Let's face it, Facebook is something I help organizations use to market themselves, which makes it work, not a special alone time activity. Besides, the longer I am on Facebook the more likely I am to work on some of my projects. But no, no work for me tonight.
By now you are thinking, "is she ever going to talk about what she did do?" The simple answer is that I took a hot bath, drank a small glass of wine, had a small piece of chocolate and read another bit from Rothfuss's book. The more accurate answer is that after a few minutes I was bored and realized that I needed to be busy.
Sometimes what you want so much is not what you really need. Sometimes you just need to enjoy what you have.
