I have been reading Patrick Rothfuss' books The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear and thoroughly enjoying them. That I can love these books so much is nearly a miracle because I am a book snob. Seriously. I spent months arguing with my daughter about why the Harry Potter books are interesting to read but not of any real literary quality. I am a snob and I freely admit it. However, I am a voracious reader and when I completed by thesis and left school forever (or until I can convince my husband that it would be worth it to go back again), I looked around for something to read. I read Night Circus, which was decent book, I closed my eyes and read anything I pointed at in my bookcase, I even read every cereal and cracker box we have in this house.
I was desperate. I went to Goodreads and found Rothfuss' books recommended so I bought the first one and downloaded it to my beloved Kindle. I was totally bewildered for the first 2 chapters. Finally I looked it up online and discovered that I hadn't missed anything, I just didn't have all the facts yet. A few chapters into the book, I got my sea legs and began to be immersed in the storyline. I never wanted to put it down. When I finished it, I quickly downloaded the second book and began to read. I had to know what my good friend, Kvothe was up to. But then the unthinkable happened. I got about 2/3rds of the way through the 2nd book and went to order book 3, but where was it?! It wasn't on Amazon so I looked for when it would be released. NO ONE KNOWS! What?! What am I going to do? Rothfuss is in my doghouse. I have been very, very slowly progressing through the book because where am I going to get my Kvothe fix? What is going to happen on the third day? Please, I have to know. I can't read another cereal box, I just can't.
