What is it with Twitter? Why do people like it so much? I use it simply to keep current with trends so that I can help my clients, but there is seriously nothing interesting about it. It reminds me a bit of MySpace. It was all the rage for a while and then people abandoned it and only the musicians were left. I don't even think the musicians still use it; YouTube is much better suited to their needs. On Twitter it seems like the advertisers and self-promoters are happily tweeting away and people listen, though I am not sure why. I guess it is the same faux feeling of intimacy that people get through testing. "Maybe they will tweet me back..."
Of all the "social media" trends, Pinterest interests me most. I admit to avoiding that time waster as often as possible because 1 minute turns into 40 very easily. It is a moderately interactive medium, certainly more interactive in some ways then Twitter and you can collect things without actually having to buy them.
The moral of the story is that the next social media thing is coming and the last one will be abandoned for greener pastures.
What do you think of Twitter? Here to stay or gone tomorrow?
